Digital exam period at the Faculty of Pharmacy (Part 4): The exams of the Department of Pharmaceutical Biology were facilitated by the helpful students

9 July 2020

The exam period ended nearly two weeks for pharmacy students, so the first official digital exam period is over. Experiences and observations are still fresh, and the departments of the Faculty of Pharmacy will try to incorporate these experiences and good practices in later fields of classroom education and pharmacy training, as soon as possible in the next semester. In our previous article, we wrote about the Department of Pharmacognosy’s self-initiated digital examining and sudy-platform, Moodle. Now the Department of Pharmaceutical Biology is in the spotlight!

Technical difficulties and helpful medical students
The Department of Pharmaceutical Biology used the Unipoll system to test the knowledge of pharmacy students, which was implemented through written examinations in two subjects. The first exam was organized in the second week, which involved a number of technical difficulties. In its report, the Department points out that it was assisted by a table of entry times for written examinations (from which the duration of the examination could only be estimated).

The Department also increased the entry time and exam completion time and asked students for help in monitoring the exam start time because unfortunately it had to be changed frequently depending on the total number of users of the system. The students were very helpful, they even agreed to take the Saturday exam!

Correcting the exam also caused technical problems from time to time, so these sometimes had to be scheduled for the evening hours or the end of the week, so students could be notified of the result later than usual. However, there are automatisms (in scoring, for example) that make the situation easier for the professors.
