Mária Vizeli, graduate student's report on the summer clinical internship in Kecskemét

20 October 2020

As a graduate student of the Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Pécs, I would like to give you an insight into my pre-final closing exam clinical internship, which I spent at the Bács-Kiskun County Hospital in Kecskemét. When I chose to spend the obligatory one month of practice here, I had no idea what would be waiting for me.

The day before the start of the practice, I traveled to Kecskemét with great excitement and even more fear. I haven’t loved hospitals since I was a child, yet I thought I’d try to make the most of my time there. On the first day, after the compulsory trainings, I got to know the people working there, there was a big bustle, everyone was very kind and inclusive with me. On the first day, after the compulsory trainings, I got to know the people working there, the rush-rotation went on, everyone was very kind and undiscriminating with me. I already knew here that the time spent there would be much more exciting and interesting than I had imagined before. From then on, time just flew by.

I was able to gain insight into every workflow. Although i always like the manufacturing of magistral medicines more, I have also enjoyed the supplying processes as well as bedside work in the hospital ward. It was good to see and experience from the inside what processes are taking place during an epidemiological situation. In the afternoon, I had the opportunity to see the various sights of the city, visit the best ice cream parlors, and hike in the area. It was good to see and experience first-hand what processes are taking place during an epidemiological situation. I dare to recommend - if you have the opportunity - to try the clinical practice already in previous internships, because I think you will definitely not be disappointed. If you don’t stick to familiar cities near you, go and visit new, as yet unknown cities. The time after hospital work can be spent on sightseeing, excursions, hiking and exploring the wonderful places of Hungary, combined with professional practice.
