The Institute of Pharmacognosy was founded in September 2003, as part of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pécs. Its responsibilities include teaching the courses "Pharmacobotany" and "Pharmacognosy" for undergraduate students of pharmacy, as well as higher level subjects related to the field of medicinal plants and drugs for graduate and postgraduate students. Furthermore, it offers a wide choice of facultative courses at various levels.
The researchers of the institute are involved in several research projects, operating with an extended network of international relationships, and regularly attend scientific meetings both in Hungary and abroad.
