Topic
1. week: Introductory class: Basic information about the course, syllabus, exam. Discussion about students interests, motivation.
2. week: Principles of management + strategic planning: Basic literacy in the language of business will be presented. The fundamentals of business management and entrepreneurial forms will be discussed.
3. week: Project management I.: The key concepts of planning and executing projects will be presented. The students will identify factors that lead to project success, and learn how to plan and analyze those steps. Project management is one of the most effective methods of delivering products within cost, schedule, and resource constraints. We will talk about skills how to complete projects on time and on budget. The students will gain working knowledge of the basics of project management.
4. week: Project management II.: Practice based on the previous lesson.
5. week: Introduction to macro and microeconomics: The students will learn the basic terminology regarding finance. Macroeconomic and microeconomic definitions will be introduced.
6. week: Marketing and market research: Lots of data is collected by organizations, industries, social media, governments etc it is important to review and understand the data and gain valuable insights. A foundational understanding of this field will be provided, market analysis, marketing strategies will be explained focusing on biotechnology products.
7. week: Pricing strategies: Pricing is one of the most important marketing decision. We will analyze the assessment and formulation of pricing strategies and how to capture value and profits.
8. week: Human resource management: This lesson provides a foundation for developing an approach to skillfully managing employees. We will think about how to motivate employees within a legal context and what kinds of skills are needed in this field.
9. week: The lifecycle of pharmaceuticals: During this lesson we will talk about authorization procedures, how to ensure safety on the new products on the market.
10. week: Clinical trials: Clinical trials are experiments designed to evaluate new interventions to prevent or treat disease in humans. The interventions evaluated can be drugs, devices, surgeries, behavioral interventions, community health programs or health delivery systems. We will explain the basic principles for design of clinical trials, types of clinical trials and terminology used in clinical trials.
11. week: Pharmacoeconomics: Basics and types of economic evaluation, health economics, quality of life, health utility will be discussed. Reimbursement of medicines, medical products will be explained.
12. week: Biotechnology industry: This lesson will cover the key enabling technologies that underpin biotechnology research, segments of the industry, companies on this field, market share and expected trends.
13. week: Summary, consultation
