On September 6, 2024, Dr. Amir Reza Ashraf successfully defended his PhD thesis, "Evaluation of the Online Pharmaceutical Market and the Dangers of Counterfeit Medicines: Comprehensive Investigation of Illicit Online Trade of semaglutide and the Influence of Search Engine Recommendations".
Dr. Ashraf's research highlights the growing concern of counterfeit medicines and the illicit online trade of semaglutide, a popular weight loss medication. His study reveals that majority of online pharmacies operate illegally, putting millions of lives at risk.
The defence took place in the SIOT0033 lecture hall and was also conducted via Teams infocommunication tool.
