Prof. József Deli Receives Prestigious International Recognition

A new significant international professional achievement has further enhanced the reputation of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Pécs. Prof. József Deli, PhD, DSc, Professor at the Faculty, has been awarded the Otto Isler Prize in recognition of his outstanding research contributions to the field of carotenoid chemistry. The award is considered one of the most prestigious international honours in this scientific discipline.

The recognition was presented at the 20th International Symposium on Carotenoids, held in Palma, Spain, from 14–19 June 2026. The triennial scientific meeting is one of the most significant international forums for carotenoid research, bringing together leading researchers from around the world to present and discuss their latest findings.

Since 2005, the International Carotenoid Society (ICS) has presented its prestigious scientific awards at this conference. The Otto Isler Prize is awarded to researchers who have achieved outstanding and lasting scientific contributions in the field of carotenoid chemistry. This year’s award was presented to Prof. József Deli, making him only the seventh researcher worldwide to receive this distinguished recognition.

The award represents international recognition of Prof. Deli József’s outstanding scientific achievements and also highlights the significance of the high-quality research conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Pécs.
