The Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Pécs and the ENELIS Informatikai Zrt., a leading company in Hungarian pharmacy informatics, have launched a new practice-oriented collaboration to provide pharmacy students with modern digital competencies that can be directly applied in everyday pharmacy practice already during their university studies. The strategic partnership was officially confirmed on May 18, 2026, through the signing of a cooperation agreement at a ceremonial event.
The idea for the collaboration emerged in the autumn of 2025, while the actual implementation began this year. ENELIS Zrt. contributed to the renewal of the Faculty’s pharmaceutical informatics infrastructure by providing modern IT equipment and software solutions. Thanks to this cooperation, students will gain experience with pharmacy management systems that they are highly likely to encounter later in community pharmacy practice.
Today, digital competencies and confident knowledge of pharmacy software systems have become fundamental expectations within the pharmacy profession. Practical familiarity with these systems not only supports the smoother integration of newly graduated pharmacists into the labour market, but also contributes to long-term professional development and the efficient operation of pharmacies, reports the News Centre of the University of Pécs.
“As a result of this collaboration, our students will become familiar with most of these products, and there is almost a 90% chance that a pharmacy graduate from Pécs will use a software system in their first workplace that they have already encountered here within the university walls,” said Dr. András Fittler, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Pécs.
“We truly value this collaboration because it is also in our fundamental interest that pharmacy students entering professional practice are already able to confidently use the software systems required in pharmacies,” emphasized Zsolt Szepesházi, CEO of ENELIS Zrt. He added that the company’s success is also supported when more professionals in the market use their systems.
Dr. Anett Szepesi-Palik, Head Pharmacist of the company, plays a key role in the professional implementation of the project. ENELIS experts are involved not only in providing the technological background, but also actively participate in education: they will regularly deliver professional lectures and practical demonstrations for both pharmacy students and participants of specialist pharmacist training programmes.
In the future, the collaboration may also serve as a foundation for additional joint developments and professional programmes. The partnership is an excellent example of how academic knowledge and industry experience can be combined in order to provide students with up-to-date and competitive knowledge for the labour market.
